God’s Will:
A Predetermined Plan or Love Seeking Expression Through Us?

Discernment may be less about decoding a hidden script and more about learning what love requires here.

People often search for God’s will as though one correct path has been hidden and every wrong choice could ruin the story. The search for guidance quietly becomes fear of making an irreversible mistake.

01

The familiar angle

The familiar lens trusts that God guides history and individual lives with wisdom beyond our sight. It preserves surrender, providence, and the comfort that our lives are not abandoned to meaninglessness.

02

Rotate the prism

Rotate the prism and God’s will becomes the nature of God seeking expression. If God is love, then discernment asks: Which choice allows truth, freedom, courage, responsibility, and compassion to become more fully embodied here?

The prism turns

A different angle does not automatically cancel the first. It reveals what the first angle could not show by itself.

03

What another lens reveals

There may be more than one faithful path. A relationship with God can involve creativity rather than constant fear of failing a secret test. We make real choices, learn through consequence, and discover that grace can work with roads we would not have chosen.

04

What the original lens still preserves

The traditional lens preserves listening. Love is not whatever feels easiest, and personal desire should not crown itself divine guidance. Community, wisdom, Scripture, conscience, reality, and the fruit of a choice all help test what we call God’s will.

05

When the insight becomes lived

When the whole future is unclear, discern the next loving step. Ask what is honest, what is yours to carry, whom the decision affects, and what kind of person each path is forming. Guidance often becomes visible while walking.

Let the question remain open

Questions to sit with

  1. Have you imagined God’s will as one hidden correct answer?
  2. How has that affected your decisions?
  3. Which values help you recognize love in expression?
  4. What desire needs to be tested rather than denied?
  5. What is the next faithful step you can actually see?
